Time in Neverland was filled with adventures, and Wendy and her brothers' stay there was no exception. One such adventure took place at the Mermaid’s Lagoon, one of Wendy’s most anticipated spots. The children often spent long summer days at this lagoon, swimming or floating most of the time, playing mermaid games in the water, and so forth. As much fun as it was, things weren’t exactly how Wendy wished for.
In fact, it was among Wendy’s lasting regrets that all her time at Neverland she never had a civil word from a mermaid. When Wendy stole softly to the edge of the lagoon, she might see them basking in the sun, combing out their hair in a lazy way that quite irritated her. She might even swim within a yard of them, but then they saw her and dove, splashing her with their tails. They treated all the boys in the same way, except of course Peter, who chatted with them by the hour and sat on their tails when they got cheeky.
